Eating near the crew hotels in Jeddah

Al-Balad, the UNESCO-listed old town, is the food-and-souk district — about 40 minutes' drive from JED.

Al-Balad (Historic Jeddah) is the district to head for: a 2.5 sq km UNESCO World Heritage quarter with five historic markets and over 650 historic buildings, per the official Jeddah Historic District body.

The district's official destination site organises the area around its souks and its restaurants, describing Historic Jeddah's restaurants as offering authentic traditional Hijazi dishes and innovative international cuisine — eat at district level here rather than defaulting to hotel dining.

Logistics from the official site: roughly a 40-minute drive from King Abdulaziz International Airport, a 17-minute drive from the Haramain high-speed rail AlSulaymaniyah station, and a 7-minute walk from the SAPTCO bus stop.

Neither official site publishes market or restaurant opening hours; the district publishes a downloadable visitor guide PDF on visitalbalad.com — check it for current timings rather than assuming late openings.
