Ride-hailing in Rome

Licensed taxis are white, carry TAXI on the roof and a municipal symbol on the front doors, and show the licence number on the door panels, the rear and inside. The rank is on the arrivals level of Terminals 1 and 3, with taxis also at the railway station.

The fixed fare from Fiumicino to Rome inside the Aurelian Walls is 55 euro per car with supplements included. Roma Servizi per la Mobilità puts the run at 40 to 50 minutes. Other published fixed fares from Fiumicino: Stazione Tiburtina 60 euro, Stazione Ostiense 50 euro, Ciampino airport 55 euro, Nuova Fiera di Roma 26 euro, Civitavecchia port 130 euro.

Journeys between anywhere inside the Grande Raccordo Anulare and Fiumicino airport, in either direction, cannot exceed 80 euro. That is the ceiling to hold a driver to when your pickup point sits outside the fixed-fare zone.

Outside the fixed-fare zones the meter applies. The starting charge is 3.50 euro Monday to Friday between 06:00 and 22:00, 5.00 euro on Saturdays and public holidays in the same hours, and 7.50 euro between 22:00 and 06:00. The first bag is free; each further bag larger than 35 by 25 by 50 cm is 1 euro.

NCC cars (noleggio con conducente, generally blue or grey) are a different licence class: they must be booked in advance rather than taken from a rank, they wait in the area in front of the airport exit, and Aeroporti di Roma advises settling the meeting point, the route and the cost with the operator before you travel, because fares vary by destination and by operator.

Uber operates in Rome, lists FCO airport pickup and takes bookings up to 30 days ahead.

Aeroporti di Roma warns that any other vehicle offering itself in the Arrivals area may not hold a proper authorisation, and may charge more than the official rates.
