Most hospitality outlets in Qatar include a service charge in the bill, per the national tourism board, so check before adding anything.
A tip of 10-15% as a gesture of satisfaction is appreciated but not obligatory.
The tourism board specifically advises carrying cash for tipping. The Qatari riyal is pegged at QAR 3.64 to the US dollar, and ATMs are widespread in malls and hotels.
