Tipping in Amsterdam
Not mandatory, 10% for good service, and nothing is added for you.
All of Amsterdam
Tipping is not mandatory in the Netherlands. Nobody chases you for it and nobody is embarrassed by its absence.
Where the service was good, a 10% tip is standard.
Service charges are very rarely added to bills, so a tip sits on top of the printed total rather than replacing a line already there.
